Upload—Mbps
How this test measures your connection

Node: local-dev

Ping here is HTTP round-trip time after one warmup sample, not ICMP. Speeds use decimal Mbps from bytes and elapsed time.

What does this tool measure?

The upload test creates temporary random bytes in the browser and sends them to the test endpoint. It does not select or upload your personal files.

How do I use it?

  1. Pause cloud backups and file sync.
  2. Start the upload test.
  3. Keep the tab open until the server confirms the received byte count.
  4. Repeat if you are investigating calls, backups, or livestream problems.

How should I read the result?

Upload Mbps affects how quickly you can send files and how much outgoing capacity is available for video meetings, cloud backup, and live video.

What are the technical limits?

The result covers the route to this node at this time. The server byte count must match the generated payload or the test fails instead of keeping a misleading number.

Frequently asked questions

Does the upload test send my files?

No. It sends generated test data only.

Why is upload slower than download?

Many residential plans are asymmetric by design. Wi-Fi, background backups, congestion, and provider provisioning can widen the difference.
