Ping—ms
How this test measures your connection

Node: local-dev

Ping here is HTTP round-trip time after one warmup sample, not ICMP. Speeds use decimal Mbps from bytes and elapsed time.

What does this tool measure?

This page measures HTTP round-trip time to the SpeedTestLab endpoint. It discards one warmup request and reports the median of the remaining samples. It is not an ICMP ping.

How do I use it?

  1. Pause traffic that could fill the connection.
  2. Start the test.
  3. Review the median HTTP latency and jitter.
  4. Repeat while idle and under normal use to compare responsiveness.

How should I read the result?

Lower latency usually feels more responsive for calls, remote desktops, and online games. Jitter shows how much consecutive samples vary.

What are the technical limits?

Browser HTTP timing includes connection and application-layer work. System ICMP tools and game-server latency can differ because they use other protocols and destinations.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the ping command?

No. The operating-system ping command usually uses ICMP. This browser test uses HTTP requests.

What is a good ping?

There is no universal cutoff. Lower and stable is generally better, and the latency to the service you actually use matters most.
