Jitter Test
Jitter here is the average absolute difference between consecutive HTTP ping samples.

How this test measures your connection
Ping here is HTTP round-trip time after one warmup sample, not ICMP. Speeds use decimal Mbps from bytes and elapsed time.
What does this tool measure?
Jitter is variation in latency. SpeedTestLab calculates the average absolute difference between consecutive HTTP round-trip samples.
How do I use it?
- Use the connection you want to assess.
- Pause heavy transfers.
- Start the test and let all latency samples finish.
- Repeat during the conditions when calls or games feel unstable.
How should I read the result?
A low average can still hide occasional spikes, so compare jitter with the individual experience and repeat the test. Voice and live video usually prefer steady timing.
What are the technical limits?
This is HTTP latency variation to one node, not packet-level RTP jitter from a voice call and not a measurement to every game server.
Frequently asked questions
Can jitter be high when ping is low?
Yes. The average latency can be low while individual samples vary widely.
How can I reduce jitter?
Pause competing uploads, test by Ethernet, improve Wi-Fi coverage, and check whether the problem occurs only during busy periods.
